Week 17 (Aug 12th - Aug 18th)

New Player Objects:

This Week I wanted to replace some models that have been placeholders for the entirety of the project until now.

 

This includes:

  • The Player Wrist Monitor

  • Fire Nozzle/Extinguisher

  • Fuel Pickup

  • Coolant Pickup

 

After getting some feedback on the visibility of the pickups, I gave them emissive sections so they standout more when players are searching for resources.​​​​​

Mech Textures:

I also got around to finishing the new mech model after I rearramged the UV maps for the mech limbs to all be on the same map, before bringin the model into substance for texturing.

I liked the stand in colors I used for the untextured version in Unity, and wanted the final version to have a similar dull green with grey/silver metal details.

 

I'm not completely sold on the look of the storage containers on it's back so I may end up revising the look later on, but for now it does the job.

 

I also made a point of adding sutle indicators on the resources collectors with some colour coding to indicate where players should put their fuel and coolant.​​​​

New Hanger Bay:

When I first made the hanger for the first major submission in the project timeline, it was a semi rushed version, contains a lot of empty or unusable space. So I wanted to redesign it to be more practicle with what the player actually needs from the space, to learn the games base mechanics and gear. So I changed it to be a two story building far less wide than the original, with cubbys for resources on the sides to setup players to learn about refuelling.

 

The starting room where players first spawn also comes with a couple displays, that show the objective of reaching Terminus, alongside a couple tutorials. 

 

The models are sperated by the building itself, then the extra assets like the cargo frame, door, ladder and support beams.​​​​
